This course is designed for distillers who want to bottle aged rums. It covers the following topics:
- Morphological differences between American Oak and French Oak
- Impact of heat treatment of the oak barrels
- New versus used barrels
- Flavor differences between American Oak and French Oak
- Blending for consistency
- Common challenges in aging and blending
- Introduction to Specialty Finishing Casks
***Introduction to Rum Blending (November 3rd) is strongly recommended, as this course builds on the principles presented in that course.
The cost of the training includes course material, light breakfast (coffee, pastries) and lunch. Hotel and transportation are not included. We can provide a list of nearby hotels upon request.
