Apricot Rum Liqueur
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 2 Cups Water
- 1 Lb. Dried Apricots, chopped into small pieces
- 1/2 Cup Overproof White Rum
- 3/4 Cup Medium/Heavy Congener Aged Rum
- 1 tsp. Orange Zest
- 1 Tbsp. Fruit Protector
- 5 Drops Yellow Food Coloring
- 2 Drops Red Food Coloring
Directions:
- Combine the water and sugar in a medium saucepan, bring the mixture to a boil, stirring frequently for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow it to cool.
- Place the apricots in a 2-quart jar (make sure you have a tight-fitting lid for it). Pour the sugar water syrup over the apricots and add all the remaining ingredients, including the food coloring.
- Seal the lid and allow the mixture to rest in a cool, dark place for about a month. You may periodically shake the jar to help release and combine flavors, but it is not necessary.
- Transfer (and filter, if desired) into the final serving decanter/container.

- Apricot oil is good for skin care. It is quickly absorbed by the skin and does not keep the skin oily after it is applied.
